Luxury Weddings
How much does a luxury wedding in Italy cost: Lake Como, Tuscany, Puglia, Amalfi Coast
What a high-end wedding in Italy costs in 2026, region by region, and what all-inclusive packages really include: a source for every figure.
In 2025 foreign couples celebrated 16,700 weddings in Italy, 9.8% more than the year before, generating over 1.1 billion euros and an average spend of 67,000 euros per event, up 8.9%: these are the figures of the Destination Wedding in Italy Observatory by Convention Bureau Italia, presented in February 2026. The leading market is the United States with 31.7% of enquiries, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany; almost one couple in two (46.8%) hires a professional wedding planner, and the symbolic ceremony remains the most chosen format (65.4%).
The average foreign wedding in Italy costs 67,000 euros: it is an average, and a villa on Lake Como passes it on a single Saturday in June.
That average hides three different Italies. This page lines up the figures published in 2026 by planners, venues and industry guides for the three destinations most searched from abroad, Lake Como, Tuscany and Puglia, with a source for every number: these are not quotes, they are orders of magnitude to start from when deciding whether an idea holds up.
The items that make up the bill, and the ones people forget
A wedding quote in Italy always has the same lines: venue hire, catering per head, the wedding planner, décor and flowers, music, photographer, guest transport. The lines foreign quotes forget are different: VAT, almost always shown separately, at 22% on the planner, flowers, music, photographer and space hire and at 10% on catering and accommodation; the high-season premium, which Tuscan planners' guides put at 20 to 40% from May to September; SIAE music rights; and the municipal fee for a civil ceremony, which varies by town and can run from 100 to 2,500 euros. In a case study published by the Giorgia Fantin Borghi studio, a 95,000-euro villa wedding in Tuscany for 65 guests includes 15,000 euros of full planning: the planner, at this level, is worth about 15%.
Lake Como
It is Italy's most expensive destination, and the sources agree. The 2026 guides of the lake's planners (ChiaraB Events, Italian Venues) place a wedding for 80 to 100 guests between 75,000 and 140,000 euros all in, and a small wedding of 20 between 30,000 and 50,000. The heavy line is the villa: according to Italian Venues, most of the lake's known villas ask between 15,000 and 35,000 euros for a high-season Saturday, with appointed suppliers and minimum spends starting at 12,000 to 15,000 euros; for Villa Balbiano, Tulle Together quoted a base fee of 50,000 euros in February 2026. Catering runs from 170 to 240 euros per head including wine; a civil ceremony in the Comune di Como's rooms costs, according to planners, around 1,000 to 1,500 euros plus documents and translations.
Villa del Balbianello, the FAI villa at Lenno, is a case apart because its rates are public: a six-hour hire, before VAT, runs from 15,700 euros for up to 30 guests to 70,500 for 130, the maximum allowed; above 50 guests a marquee is mandatory, music ends at midnight and every extra hour costs 3,000 euros plus VAT. Those who want the villa from the films pay for the villa, then for everything else.
Tuscany
Tuscany has the widest spread, because the offer runs from farmhouse to castle. The 2026 guide of the Giorgia Fantin Borghi studio puts high-end Tuscan weddings between 40,000 and over 250,000 euros. For the venue alone, 2026 guides place a private villa between 7,000 and 25,000 euros a night and a historic castle between 10,000 and 60,000 and above; castles almost always require a two-night minimum. Three examples published by Tulle Together in February 2026: Castello di Celsa, near Siena, from 12,000 euros with two nights; Castello di Vicarello, in the Maremma, 76,500 euros for 24 guests with two nights included; Castello del Nero, in Chianti, from 50,000 euros. Castle catering on Italian portals starts at about 106 euros per head for the wedding menu: the whole difference with Lake Como is there.
Puglia
Puglia is the fastest-growing destination, and masserie follow their own logic: they are rented for several nights, not for a day. The 2026 Giorgia Fantin Borghi guide gives 35,000 to 70,000 euros for an intimate wedding of 20 to 40 guests in a historic masseria, 70,000 to 180,000 for a whole masseria or a resort event of 50 to 100 guests, and 250,000 to over 600,000 euros for a luxury resort taken exclusively for several days. Italian Venues estimates that most couples with 80 guests spend 45,000 to 65,000 euros in total. Catering runs from 140 to 180 euros plus VAT per head for a standard menu to 180 to 220 and above for a luxury one; masserie ask for two to four minimum nights between June and September, and dates in May, June, mid-September and October cost more.
Amalfi Coast and Ravello
The Amalfi Coast is the other destination where prices climb fastest, because the great venues are hotels and catering is charged at hotel rates. According to the 2026 guide of Emiliano Russo, a Ravello wedding photographer and planner, in-house dinners at Belmond Hotel Caruso run from 330 to 407 euros per head and at Villa Cimbrone from 300 euros, with wine adding 40 to 80 euros per head; venues that work with external caterers, such as Villa Eva and Palazzo Confalone, come in at 150 to 300 euros. At Villa Cimbrone the same guide gives about 8,500 euros for the Terrace of Infinity and 6,500 for the Crypt, VAT included, a two-night buyout of the hotel at about 65,000 euros, and a complete wedding for 80 to 100 guests at 200,000 to 280,000 euros.
Lower down the coast the figures are more accessible. Venue price lists gathered by Tulle Together in October 2026 show, for 2026: Hotel Marincanto in Positano, a symbolic ceremony on the terrace at 4,000 euros and dinner at 170 to 195 euros per head for 30 to 50 guests; Anantara Convento di Amalfi, wedding menus at 289 to 339 euros per head and ceremony fees of 2,000 to 3,000 euros, VAT included; Hotel Mediterraneo in Sorrento, an 8,000-euro venue fee and gala dinners at 165 to 230 euros per head, with a minimum of 80 adults.
A comparison in one mental table
For 80 to 100 guests at a high-end venue on a Saturday in June: Lake Como 75,000 to 140,000 euros, with the villa alone worth 15,000 to 50,000; Tuscany 60,000 to 120,000, with the castle at 10,000 to 60,000 for two nights; Puglia 70,000 to 180,000 if you take a whole masseria or resort for the weekend, far less in a masseria open to other guests too. In Ravello the 2026 planner's guide cited above gives 40,000 to 70,000 euros for 40 to 50 guests at Villa Eva, 80,000 to 120,000 for 50 to 80 guests at Caruso or Palazzo Avino, and 200,000 to 280,000 for 80 to 100 guests at Villa Cimbrone. These are the ranges of the sources cited, not our estimates: every figure has its link at the bottom of the page, and holds until that source updates it.
All-inclusive wedding packages: what they really include
Many couples search for an all-inclusive package, but in Italy the term almost always means something narrower than at a Caribbean resort. What hotels and venues sell as a package is usually a price per head that covers the menu, the aperitif, the cake and the basic set-up, sometimes the ceremony space: flowers, music, photographer, planner, guest transport and often drinks remain separate lines. Three 2026 examples from venue price lists published by Tulle Together: Excelsior Palace in Rapallo, packages from 190 to 260 euros per head including 10% VAT, for 50 to 200 guests; Grand Hotel Portovenere, a 300-euro-per-head package on top of the hotel buyout, from 27,500 euros a night; Hotel Marincanto in Positano, a 4,000-euro elopement package for two with a suite night, ceremony set-up, Prosecco and a tasting menu.
A genuinely all-in price, covering everything from flowers to photographer, is what a wedding planner builds into a single quote, and that is the figure to compare with the ranges on this page. When an offer looks cheap, check whether the ceremony is legal or symbolic (a legal one in Italy has its own municipal fee and paperwork), whether VAT, tourist tax and SIAE music rights are included, and how many guests the price assumes.
How to read a quote before signing it
- VAT: included or to be added? It is 22% on services and 10% on catering and accommodation, and it changes the total considerably;
- appointed suppliers and minimum spends: many villas have them, and they belong in the budget;
- what the hire covers: hours or days, nights included, how many rooms, which spaces;
- rain plan: marquee included or hired separately, and where dinner moves to;
- hours and limits for music, and the cost of extra hours;
- the municipal fee for a civil ceremony and the paperwork for foreign couples;
- the high-season premium, and what changes if you move the date by a month.

Frequently asked questions
What does a foreign couple's wedding in Italy cost on average?
67,000 euros per event in 2025, according to Convention Bureau Italia's Destination Wedding in Italy Observatory: 16,700 weddings worth over 1.1 billion euros. It is a national average: on Lake Como it is easily exceeded.
Which is the most expensive destination?
Lake Como: for 80 to 100 guests the planners' 2026 guides give 75,000 to 140,000 euros all in, with the villa alone between 15,000 and 50,000 euros for a high-season Saturday.
Is VAT included in quotes?
Almost never: in Italy it is 22% on the planner, flowers, music, photographer and space hire and 10% on catering and accommodation, and quotes show it separately. It is the first thing to ask, together with the high-season premium, which planners put at 20 to 40% from May to September.
Are all-inclusive wedding packages in Italy really all-inclusive?
Rarely. Hotel and venue packages are usually a price per head covering menu, aperitif, cake and set-up, for example 190 to 260 euros including VAT at Excelsior Palace in Rapallo in 2026; flowers, music, photographer, planner and transport are extra. A complete price for everything comes from a wedding planner's quote.
How much does a wedding on the Amalfi Coast cost?
It depends on the venue: according to a 2026 Ravello planner's guide, dinner at the great hotel venues runs from 300 to 410 euros per head plus wine, and a complete wedding for 80 to 100 guests at Villa Cimbrone 200,000 to 280,000 euros. Positano and Sorrento hotels quote dinners from about 165 to 195 euros per head.
