How much does a wedding in Tuscany cost: villas, castles, borghi and a civil ceremony in Florence

2026 prices of nine Tuscan venues, Florence's civil ceremony fees for foreigners, catering, planner and VAT: the real figures of a Tuscan wedding.

Tuscany is, together with Lake Como, the destination foreign couples love most for weddings in Italy, according to Convention Bureau Italia's Observatory on 2025. It also has the widest price range, because the offer runs from a farmhouse at 4,000 euros a night to a castle at 60,000 euros per event. The rule that changes everything compared with other regions is the stay: most villas and borghi are taken for two or three nights, with guests sleeping on site, and the venue price almost always includes accommodation.

In Tuscany you don't hire a room for an evening: you hire a borgo or a villa for three nights, and the wedding is the Saturday in between.

This page lines up prices published in 2026 by venues, planners and the Comune di Firenze, each with its source. For Lake Como and Puglia, see our general guide to luxury wedding costs in Italy.

What it costs in total

The 2026 guide by the Giorgia Fantin Borghi studio, wedding planners in Tuscany, offers a rule of thumb: 800 to 1,200 euros per guest for a quality wedding. Its bands: elopement for 2 to 10 people 8,000 to 15,000 euros; small wedding of 20 to 40 guests 25,000 to 45,000; medium wedding of 50 to 80 guests in a good villa 45,000 to 80,000; large wedding of 80 guests and more in a castle or luxury estate 80,000 to 150,000 and above; multi-day wedding with exclusive use of a property 200,000 to 400,000 and above.

For the most exclusive properties the same Giorgia Fantin Borghi guide gives minimum spends from 35,000 euros (Villa San Michele in Fiesole), 40,000 (Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco) and 50,000 (Four Seasons Florence); Tulle Together reports from 50,000 euros for COMO Castello del Nero.

Catering, planner and suppliers

Catering, according to Giorgia Fantin Borghi's 2026 guide on 2025 data, runs from 100 to 150 euros per head for a buffet to 150 to 220 for a served dinner, 220 to 350 with wine pairing, over 350 for a luxury menu, plus 25 to 50 euros per head for the bar. The wedding planner charges a fixed fee, not a percentage: 2,500 to 5,000 euros for on-the-day coordination only, 5,000 to 12,000 for partial planning, 12,000 to 35,000 and more for full service. Flowers and décor 2,000 to 15,000 euros and above; local photographer 2,000 to 4,500, international 5,000 to 12,000; music, with an evening DJ and ceremony music, 2,500 to 3,500.

The SIAE music licence for a private party, updated on 31 March 2026, costs 272.58 euros for live music only and 384.73 euros for recorded or mixed music, under 200 guests; above 200, 412.63 and 582.75 euros. A generator for an outdoor venue 500 to 1,500 euros, a backup marquee 3,000 to 15,000.

VAT: 10% or 22%

This is the line that surprises foreign couples most. In Italy standard VAT is 22% and applies to the planner, photographer, flowers, music, hair and make-up, transfers and space hire; catering and accommodation in a licensed property carry the reduced 10% rate instead. Quotes almost always show it separately: a 50,000-euro quote all at 22% becomes 61,000. The right thing to do is ask, for every line, which rate applies and whether the price already includes it.

A civil ceremony in Florence: the official fees

The Comune di Firenze publishes its fees for the civil wedding of non-resident foreigners, updated in May 2026: Sala Rossa in Palazzo Vecchio or the Ex Infermeria rooms at Santa Maria Novella 2,500 euros; Sala di Lorenzo in Palazzo Vecchio, Villa Vogel or Museo Bardini 3,000; Sala Gigli 3,400; Giardino delle Rose 3,500; the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio 5,100. Outside the standard calendar days and slots the figures rise to between 3,000 and 6,300 euros, and Saturdays are reserved for Florence residents.

You need a certificate of no impediment (nulla osta) from your consulate, documents translated and legalised or apostilled, and a declaration made in person at the Marriage Office at least two days before, where you bring your own interpreter if needed. Other Tuscan municipalities have different fees, to be asked of each: that is why many couples hold the civil rite in Florence and the symbolic ceremony and party at the villa.

All-inclusive packages: what they really are

Anyone searching for "wedding packages" or "all inclusive" finds very different offers under the same name. There are elopement packages, for the couple alone, bundling celebrant, photographer, make-up and bouquet: 2026 offers for Tuscany start at about 7,000 to 9,000 euros. There are venues selling a package with accommodation, dinner and drinks for a fixed number of guests, like the Tuscan castle starting at 25,500 euros for 25 guests. And there are agencies that call a tailored quote a "package". Before comparing two packages, check what they really contain: VAT, nights, guests' meals, the planner and municipal permits are the lines most often left out.

How to save without lowering the bar

There are three real levers. The season: according to the Giorgia Fantin Borghi guide, in April, October and November venues cost 20 to 30% less than from May to September. The day: almost every villa and borgo on the list has lower rates Monday to Thursday. The formula: two weekday nights instead of three at the weekend, when guests are few and come from nearby. What is not worth cutting is the planner, in a region where the logistics of guests spread across villas, borghi and Florence is half the work.
